Learn How to Make a Healthy Green Drink

This green smoothie recipe from Dr. Mitra Ray is a great way to improve your overall skin quality and health! Start your day off with this tasty green drink for a boost of energy full of antioxidants. 

Dark leafy greens have a very high dose of nutrients that can give you the results you are looking for— a reversal of previous damage to your skin. Hence, the name we are using to emphasize the point— the Green Drink! The fruits in the Green Drink act more as sweeteners, but remember: buy organic. The organic fruits also provide the skin with phytonutrients that will help to neutralize free radicals that can otherwise damage your collagen and make you look older. The flax seeds support collagen formation and reduce sags.


  • 3 large kale leaves, chopped
  • 2 bananas – very ripe, frozen or fresh
  • 1 fleshy fruit chopped, frozen or fresh
  • 1 cup flax seeds
  • 1 tsp. milk thistle
  • Enough water to make 6 to 8 cups


  • Put flax and milk thistle in blender. Blend until powder-like.
  • Add other solid ingredients and 3 cups of water. Blend until liquefied.
  • Add more water to make 6 to 8 cups, and blend. 

Drink throughout the day. Using some frozen fruit will help to make the Green Drink a little cooler, and this helps with the strong taste of the greens. Dr. Ray also likes to use organic, red, seedless grapes to sweeten and cool the drink. You can pluck them off the stems and freeze them in large quantities so they are ready to use.
